Question for all you readers of my blog: What should my official job title be?
Okay, so I'm trying to order business cards, and Tina tells me that I have to have a title. I'd rather not, since I don't really specialize in anything yet, and I bet that in 2 or 3 years, I'll be doing something completely different than I am now. But they insist.
I'll give you a little job description: I work for a engineering consulting company, in the Environmental Infrastructure division. Projects I'm working on right now have to do with irrigation, drinking water disinfection, and pipeline replacement.
I can't use the word "engineer" yet for legal reasons, however "Engineer in Training" is an option (however redundant if I include EIT after my name...) The other thing is that I don't want to use the words "environmental" or "infrastructure" since that would be redundant as well. Oh, and I have a degree in civil engineering, with a Water Resources option.
Currently my business card looks like this:
Nathan Sherwood, B.A.Sc, EIT
insert title here
Environmental Infrastructure
Stantec Consulting
address
phone numbers
email address
website
Let me know what you come up with. The best I've done is Water Resources Specialist.
Update: I tried posting the title table that we use here at Stantec but I don't know if you'll be able to download it off my yahoo account.
Update: I got a freewebs.com account, so now I fixed the above link to go to the right place.

How about Depositor of Environmental Beer on Pants Infrastructure? Or maybe just The Amazing Hydro Guy. Or Aquamalologist. Is Mad Scientist in Training an appropriate job title? How about Counterrevolutionary? Or Trainer of Dancing Water Molecules.
I'm gonna go watch fireworks now. Oh, and we definitely can't see that table thinger. Or at least I can't. But then, there's a significant probability that I'm just a gimp.
Well I took a look at the table, and I think the best title for you would be
Senior Vice President of Biological Pavement Engineering and Ecotoxicology
'nuff said.

"Waterman"...sounds cool...people understand it. Maybe add in some asteriks or exclaimation marks for flair.
-Jamie Koch
Environmental Hydrogeologist
Well thanks, guys, I really appreciate the suggestions. And thanks to all the english majors out there that read this blog and didn't bother to comment. You are all so very dilligent.
